Want to start fundraising but unsure where to start? We've got ya covered.

First: establish goals & set timelines. For example: "I have a goal of raising $300." If you have a goal in mind its easier to reach it.

Next, create a list of potential supporters. Friends, family and co-workers are a natural support system. Who do you know that may be willing to help? Maybe your co-workers or teammates would be interested in your fundraiser?

Then, draft a pitch. For example: "I'm committing to the UNSTOPPABLE challenge to raise awareness and raise money for Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio this month of June. During this 30 day challenge, I'm asking friends and family to support me with either a general donation or pledge an amount per minute I move! At the end of the month I hope to raise $_______."

Tell a personal story about why the organization is important to YOU!

Here's some additional tips to keep in mind:

  • Be specific about what the money you raise can do to make reproductive healthcare and education more accessible.
    • $100 provides an annual exam that includes cervical cancer screening and a breast exam for one person.
    • $500 will provide a year of birth control for approximately 5 people.
    • $1000 can pay for a two-day virtual educational training for six educators.
  • Don't forget common courtesy!
    • Please and thank you go a long way.
    • Even if the person you ask says "no," leave a lasting impression by thanking them for their time and graciousness.
